What another interesting day. This morning we had our embassy appointment. We finished by the guy telling us that we have to wait for Article 23 which is adoption approval by the India government which could take 1-3 days. I didn't think that sounded right. So we left feeling defeated again. Went to doctor to check and see if results are back and they said tomorrow 2:00. We said no, you said 9. So they changed it to 9. I called the embassy when we got back to the hotel and told them we are legal guardians of Raja and we are finalizing the adoption in the states. The lady told me that in the interview I told her all the paperwork was finished. She asked me "Is all the adoption paperwork finished?", I said "yes". So she issued an IH3 which needs an Article 23. That was the mess up.
So then I contacted the Doctor's office just to tell them that the Medical Results have to be on the new forms the embassy told us about. When I called them he said "The doctor is here now and says he will see you tomorrow at 12:00. I said "no" you told us 9. Jay and kept talking them telling them the importance and they ended with 12 and hung up. Yeah. Defeated again.
So the plan is tomorrow leave at 8:30 in the morning and we will sit in teh Doctor's office until we can be seen even if they don't until 12. We are hoping though that he will see us sooner just to get rid of us and maybe have a little compassion:). Then we will go the embassy to have the interview again and give them the paperwork of medical records. We will probably wait there all day until visa is issued/embassy closes. We have our hotel until tomorrow night at 8 (which we had to pay for) so we will know what we need to do after the embassy. If we get visa, we go home. If we don't, we work on transferring our tickets and finding a hotel. That will be interesting because all the hotels are booked due to the holiday. I'm praying we don't have to do that because I'm not sure what we will be staying in.
I also called the orphanage today to get the TB test results that they were supposed to get last week. The guy kept telling me that those don't matter because the doctor has to put it in the medical report in New Delhi so he wasn't going to give me the results. Stubborn. So, Id on't know if they just didn't give him one or they didn't want to give them to me. Our caseworker said Dr Rau (the doctor for the orphanage) told her it was done. I think all this has to do with the new laws India put into place October 1. So we are the guinea pigs and have gone through more than what we thought we ever would.
Please pray for tomorrow that all will go well and we can head home tomorrow night. Now that we don'tneed Article 23 our chances are higher we will leave tomorrow. It mostly depends on the doctor and then how fast the embassy can issue the visa.
well, hopefully no report tomorrow and we will see you in the US.
